These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Uncle AI website at askuncleai.com and the Uncle AI home maintenance assistant (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Uncle AI ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Uncle AI is an AI-powered home maintenance assistant that helps homeowners and property managers diagnose home repair problems. The Service provides diagnostic conversations, step-by-step repair guides, cost estimates, and guidance on when to call a licensed professional.

Important: Uncle AI provides general informational guidance only. Uncle AI is not a licensed contractor, engineer, architect, or building inspector. The Service does not replace professional inspection, licensed contractor work, or compliance with local building codes and regulations.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@askuncleai.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or our systems
Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to extract data from the Service beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt
Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity
Use the Service to generate content that is harmful, abusive, threatening, or discriminatory
Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission

5. Home Repair Guidance — Limitation and Assumption of Risk

Read this section carefully. It describes the limitations of AI-generated home repair advice and your assumption of risk when acting on that advice.

General guidance only. The diagnostic conversations, repair guides, cost estimates, and recommendations provided by Uncle AI are for general informational purposes only. They are generated by artificial intelligence and are not a substitute for in-person professional inspection or licensed contractor work.

No guarantee of accuracy. While we strive for accuracy, Uncle AI cannot physically inspect your home, see the full context of your problem, or account for every variable. AI-generated diagnoses may be incomplete or incorrect. Cost estimates are approximate and vary by location, contractor, and specific circumstances.

Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for evaluating whether any repair guidance is appropriate for your specific situation. Before acting on any guidance from Uncle AI:

Assess whether the repair is within your skill level and comfort zone
Verify that the guidance complies with your local building codes and regulations
Turn off relevant utilities (water, gas, electricity) before beginning any repair, as instructed
Use appropriate personal protective equipment
When in doubt, consult a licensed professional

When to call a professional. Uncle AI will indicate when a problem likely requires a licensed professional. You should always call a licensed professional for work involving gas lines, main electrical panels, structural elements, asbestos or lead remediation, or any situation where you are unsure of the diagnosis or your ability to safely complete the repair.

Assumption of risk. By choosing to perform any home repair based on Uncle AI's guidance, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with that repair, including the risk of personal injury, property damage, or worsened conditions. Uncle AI is not liable for any harm resulting from your decision to act — or not act — on information provided by the Service.

6. Contractor Network (Uncle AI Pro)

Uncle AI may connect you with independent contractors through the Uncle AI Pro network. These contractors are independent service providers, not employees or agents of Uncle AI. We verify license and insurance information provided by contractors at the time of application, but we do not guarantee the quality, safety, timeliness, or legality of any contractor's work. Any agreement for services is solely between you and the contractor.

7. Property Manager Subscriptions

Billing. Property manager subscriptions are billed monthly on a per-unit basis at the rate displayed at the time of purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each billing cycle.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@askuncleai.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

Price changes. We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

8. Amazon Affiliate Links

Our Fix It Guides contain affiliate links to tools and parts on Amazon.com. When you purchase through these links, Uncle AI earns a small commission at no additional cost to you. Uncle AI does not sell, manufacture, or warranty any products linked from the Service. Your purchase is governed by Amazon's terms of service and return policy.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all text, graphics, software, data, and other content, is owned by Uncle AI or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission, except as permitted by fair use.

Your use of the Service does not grant you ownership of any intellectual property rights in the Service or its content.

10. User Content

When you submit information through the Service (repair descriptions, photos, diagnostic responses), you retain ownership of that content. You grant Uncle AI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and process your content to provide and improve the Service. We may use anonymized and aggregated data derived from user interactions to improve our AI models and repair guides.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Uncle AI provides the Service "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In no event will Uncle AI, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service — including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or worsened conditions resulting from following repair guidance provided by the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Uncle AI and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or any repair work you perform based on information from the Service.

13. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, conducted in Los Angeles County, California. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Uncle AI.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections 5, 11, 12, and 13 survive termination.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
